Pastoral Counselling

Pastoral Counseling

Life is full of seasons—some of great joy, and others of deep trial. At St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Duncan BC, we believe that spiritual care is essential to our overall well-being. Pastor Daniel is available to provide pastoral counselling to individuals, couples, and families navigating the complexities of life.

What is Pastoral Counselling?

Unlike clinical therapy, pastoral counselling integrates biblical wisdom with a compassionate, listening ear. It is a space to explore your circumstances through the lens of faith, seeking God’s guidance and peace in the midst of:

  • Life Transitions: Navigating marriage, the birth of a child, retirement, or career changes.
  • Grief and Loss: Finding hope and support during seasons of mourning or significant life shifts.
  • Faith Questions: Wrestling with doubts, seeking spiritual direction, or deepening your prayer life.
  • Relationship Support: Strengthening the bonds of family and friendship through a Christ-centered perspective.

Confidentiality and Care

Your privacy is of the utmost importance. All pastoral counselling sessions are held in strict confidence. If a situation requires specialized clinical care, Pastor Daniel can also provide referrals to trusted professional counsellors and mental health resources in our community.

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

Premarital Counseling

Building a Foundation for a Lifetime

A wedding lasts a day, but a marriage lasts a lifetime. At [Church Name], we believe that one of the greatest gifts a couple can give each other is a solid, Christ-centered foundation before they say "I do."

Our premarital counselling program is designed to help couples move beyond the excitement of wedding planning and into the meaningful work of preparing for a healthy, vibrant, and enduring marriage.

What the Journey Looks Like

Guided by Pastor Daniel, couples will meet for several sessions to explore the spiritual and practical aspects of married life. These conversations are a safe place to discuss:

  • Communication & Conflict: Learning how to listen well and navigate disagreements with grace.
  • Spiritual Oneness: Discovering how to pray together and lead a household of faith.
  • Shared Values: Aligning on finances, family dynamics, and future goals.
  • Covenant Love: Understanding the biblical definition of marriage as a reflection of Christ’s love for the church.

Preparing for Your Big Day

If you are planning to be married at [Church Name], or if you would like Pastor Daniel to officiate your ceremony elsewhere, we typically ask that couples complete these counselling sessions at least three to six months before the wedding date.

"Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." — Matthew 19:6
