Prayer
The Prayer Chain
Concerns are upheld in prayer by a group of intercessors. Please make your needs known filling out the blue slip in the pew pocket during church or by contacting Sandra Kroek or the church office.
Prayer Shawls
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a labour of love that weaves together faith, fellowship, and compassion. Our volunteers knit and crochet handmade shawls, infusing every stitch with prayer for the eventual recipient. Whether someone is celebrating a joyful milestone or navigating a season of illness or grief, these shawls serve as a "mantle of healing" and a physical reminder that they are wrapped in God’s love and the prayers of this community.
If you would like a shawl for yourself, or to give to someone else, there are few available at the front of sanctuary or the Prayer Shawl Team would be happy to help you choose from their collection. They also make pocket prayers, small squares that can come with you wherever you go.
If you are a knitter or crochetter, please join this prayer shawl team. Yarm is provided and there is freedom to choose the type of shawl you would like to stitch. The Prayer Shawl group meets every two months to gather, pray over the shawls, and take care of business.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ... who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
Prayer Ministry
One-on-one prayer times, with the pastor or elders, are available by request.
Luke 11:1–4 New Living Translation
Once, Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
Jesus said, “This is how you should pray:
Father, may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
Give us each day the food we need,
and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation.”
Prayer is coming to God, knowing that we are speaking to the One who made and upholds the universe.
We come, giving Him honour and worship for who He is, and listening to Him regarding His Kingdom desires for us and those we pray for.
We might find that, after focusing on His desires for us and those we love and the world around us, that our prayers are changed and become attuned to God’s character and His Kingdom work.
At St Andrew’s, we are intentional about giving prayer a prominent place in every gathering of God’s people; all gatherings begin and end with prayer.
